A heads up here.

An allegation of domestic abuse is common place as a tool to delay and deflect. It's sickening as, as pointed out by resolute, it takes away from genuine cases.

I'm tempted to say it matters not if there was or there wasn't, because of course it does. You can't prove something that has not happened but you can collect evidence and create a narrative that could be twisted to look like it. This is one of the primary reasons why the calm, respectful approach is essential.

Ignore those voices with the 'wouldnt happen to me' nonsense. Your children couldn't care less and nor should you.

What I'm saying is, sadly, just because something hasn't happened, it doesn't mean you won't be accused of it. And when that comes in writing with a statement attached it hurts.
