HI

Just signed up and would like to get the thoughts off people please, i have been going through the family court process since August 2020.
Its been a long drawn-out process to which has nearly brought me to my knees, Cafcass said yesterday when i met them to carry out a s7 that its likely they will recommend i do a DAPP course.
to which cafcass even said they do not have a partner for this so they are not sure how it will work.

Correct me if I'm wrong but how can Cafcass recommend i do a course, which isn't even available by a recommended supplier they use?
 
They didn't really explain the situation properly here. Referrals to the DAPP have ceased. So families are waiting for a new programme to be introduced.

The Ministry of Justice has decided to work towards replacing the existing DAPP with a new programme to better meet the needs of a wider range of families. Provision under the current contracts will end on 31 March 2023 and the time to complete the programme is typically nine months. Therefore referrals ceased on 30 June 2022.

To be honest I'm kind of at the end of the road with all this now, Back in 2020 My solicitor suggested to cafcas and the court i would do this course, to which they both said it wasn't needed and i didn't need to do this, now fast forward to October 2022, The cafcass lady i met yesterday said that it will be her recommendation that she recommends this course for me, Its been just been a merry go road for me the past few years.
To be told i need to do a course, Thats not on offer at the moment just seems quite unprofessional to suggest something that isn't even certified by them anymore.
I am only going off her recommendation she said yesterday, i am due her s7 report on the 17th and in court on the 28th of November

Are you getting any contact with your kids currently, how old are they
 
Hi been having supervised contact since September 2020
Started off an hour and now I’m up to 6hours in one session
Daughter is now 3

You're not alone. It's a very demoralising process. We are all dragging the same emotionally draining ball and chain around with us.

So to clarify, CAFCASS and the court initially directed in 2020 that a DAPP wasn't necessary?

What has the last 2 years involved? Where are you in the process?
 
Yeah that’s right, they said a dapp wasn’t required

We waited nearly year and half for fact finding
They found that I shouted at ex verbal abuse but they said I have no issue caring and meeting my daughters needs
I had fact finding in may this year and now waiting for s7 and next hearing at end of month
 
So pointless CAFCASS advising the court that a course that is no longer available should now be considered.

(I think the whole business around DAPP's has been handled in typical UK fashion).

If the outcome of the FFH assessed that there were no issues with you meeting your daughters needs, and the outcome of the S7 considers the time you have spent having supervised contact centre time, which increased from 3 hours to 6 hours, clearly showing an increase in confidence. Your next hearing might be quite positive.

It would appear so, but we must always remember (sarcasm) that it's Dad who shouted, never Mum.

I was physically abused, to provoke retaliation through a pre meditated act (x3). I didn't retaliate. Did ever anyone take any notice? Not so far, 30+ months on.

Take care, expect worse re CAFCASS report than you have been told already, it will be worse imo.

Is 28th Nov your final hearing? I'm guessing not. So you do a strong position statement for that hearing say, you admit you shouted at Mum, Cafcass said there was no need to do a DAPP course 18 months ago. Now they say that you should do a DAPP course but these courses currently don't exist/aren't available. There are no welfare issues in caring for your child. You are willing to complete x course (find one) and ask that the court accepts this and the matter now goes to final hearing.
 
There's a list of alternative programmes by region here. But wait and see what the Section 7 report says.

I suspect this won't be the final hearing, like many on here, I'm just running on thin air at the moment and seem to think there is no light at the end of the Tunnell

I seem to get no progress whatsoever and have completely lost all hope or faith in this system.
I just cant believe someone would suggest a course that no longer exists but what else should i expect when the cafcass officer that came was a newly qualified one,

The court found no findings against me with regards to my daughter, I had every accusation under the sun against the mom, (which I'm sure Most on here also Get)

Fortunately, this all seems to be about mom and i think courts and Cafcass seem to think i must be apply for access to mum rather than my daughter

Don't try to make sense of the family court system, it will drive you mad.

I completely get your frustration, you're willing to do the course but one is not available... until you do one, the judge may not wish to increase your time with your children.

I'd suggest you look into the Caring Dads programme https://caringdads.org/

Cafcass recommended that I attended this programme, but I managed to convince the judge that as no findings were made against me, this was disproportionate. There is a UK tab with lots of providers

The other programme that is widely recognised by the courts, and much better than the SPIP, is the triple P https://www.triplep-parenting.uk.net/uk/triple-p/

I'm not sure about the costs involved, and I think they can be done online. My suggestion is get enrolled in these programmes, email Cafcass before the S7 is finished, and I think you'd be in a better position at the next hearing.

Well I had the section 7 report back, seems like all the fact finding’s there we not found have all been brought up again by a the cafcass worker, she has also said that a DAPP will need to be done, but cafcass do not recommend/ recognise any provider and this is not expected until 2024 and they have suggested the court case ends and I re apply when a DAPP provider has been found

I honestly am just banging my head against a wall with this whole process

After nearly 30 months of all this I’m starting to think it’s time to fly the white flag and call it a day and walk away
 
Yeah I have solictor who can’t believe they actually put that in the report

The way the reports read you would have thought the cafcass officer is my ex’s best friend
