Alcohol Testing

Hi

I did mine a few years back now (2021). From recollection it was something like 400. for a hair strand test. Will check if I can find it.

Not sure on the peth tests

unless specifically court ordered, you can just turn up to court with the results of a Peth test, with id check and stuff, costs £174. The court will take one look at that and dismiss alcohol as a concern. If you have a zero Peth test , you've not had any alcohol for last 30-40 days and if you abused alcohol, it would simply not be possible to get such a result.

Can I ask where from?

I think alpha bio labs is £310 for a peth test with chain of custody

Cansford Lab - which includes going to their office for the blood sample ( finger prick - done by admin staff) - you take photo ID and they also take a photo of you
Thanks. Did you have to travel to Cardiff then? It's abit far for me. But I will enquire and see what it costs for the home sample collection.

home sample is £30 i think, but they have other offices than cardiff i think
Great. I will enquire with them then. As I was going to do alpha bio labs and assumed they'd all be similar.

I'm not fully abstinent, but kept to a maximum of 1 pint a week for the last few months, which has been hard!

so go one better - stop altogether ! show yourself you can do it, then you can show everyone else.
You're right. I've gone down to a minimum which is a huge achievement, but I may as well just stop.

It's so hard resisting a pint when having a meal out though. But I also feel disappointed afterwards, knowing it won't show abstinence on a test!

Christmas will be hard. But I'm determined!

Try 0% beer that's what I have switched to personally like the 0% guinness the best I get the feeling I'm enjoying a pint when out but without the alcohol

Peth tests (court approved) ranged £275 - £355 for me. I self funded 3 showing zero. At DRA it was noted but 3 more ordered at half cost. 4 working day return on average via email. I've traveled to their sites for convenience as they are covered most cities ie Leeds Newcastle Manchester but they do home visit for a little extra.

I've quite enjoyed 7 months drinking 0.5 or less lagers/ales. Ghost Ship Ale 0.5 is a fantastic go to sup as is Guiness zero.

Best steering clear completely until its done, saves the worry.

Would recommend Cransford Labs and Crystal Health.

6/7 tests is good going. But expensive at the same time.

Cansford have advised that I can avoid the collection fee if I get a collection from GP surgery or a similar institution and that the collection needs to be done by someone independent who’s word will stand up in court.

Not sure if my GP will do it, but if they do then it could make for a cheap peth test or two before my FHDRA.

If not, £270 a test isn't too bad, and the cheapest I have come across.

I will be staying clear. I have been enjoying the AF beers too. Mainly Guinness Zero, and Corona Cero. I will have to try the Ghost ship one!

Cutting down initially was the hardest part, but the AF beers helped with this and socialising alot less. just need to learn to not choose the alcoholic option when having a meal now.

Thanks for the recommendations.

@Yorkdad can I ask what the circumstance has led to the numerous repeated tests? tia
