Seeking expert advice

Hi, I am experiencing serious difficulties with my alienated children. Can anybody recommend an expert who can give me advice? I am not talking about legal advice but someone on the psychological side.
Thanks.

I have the same issue. There are independent social workers who specialise in repatriation and rebuilding relationships, but it isn't cheap. google around and see what you find, but if you contact them, you need to be very specific with what you want from them.

I have found Karen Woodall seminars very helpful. It's not 1-1 but group meetings with advice on how to try to communicate with your child/ren.

She's starting a small support group in the autumn specifically for alienated dad's.

I highly recommend getting this book - it will help you manage the situation and have strategies - I found it a godsend. It's an easy read and you can dip in and out of various chapters. The key is to manage it at your end and know how to handle things with kids. Partly to protect them and partly to prevent your relationship with them being damaged. One of the authors, Amy J Baker, is a Parental Alienation expert.

Co-parenting with a toxic Ex

Do you have a court order in place for time with the children?

It can be difficult to find specific experts to help you on an individual level.
The pitfalls are that they need the courts permission or other parents agreement to get involved with the children involved.

It was social workers who greatly contributed to my children getting alienated.

@Peanut 21 if the other parent does not agree do you know if the court can order it, especially if it is deemed the best way forward?

I am looking for specific leads to expert advisors/therapists on the issue of alienated children. I said not legal advice.

The part about legal advice is that in order for a therapist to be used the mother needs to agree with it.
Or a court can order it if the mother doesn't agree, which is highly likely.
But the court will only order it if they feel it's in the Child best interests and the parent will pay for it.

NO, you can hire therapist privately!

You can't hire a therapist privately. If you did the court would see it as manipulative and things would go against you. Do you actually have proceedings going on at the moment or not? It would be the same if your ex engaged a private therapist - as the parent dealing solely with the therapist, she could bias the therapist.

I still recommend that book. Amy J Baker is an expert. However, if what you're looking for is "proof" of parental alieantion then you would need to apply to court with a Part 25 application, for a psychologist's report on both the parents (not the children). Not a therapist. That is very expensive - at least £7,000. Unless the Mother agrees to psychologists reports which is highly unlikely if she is an alienator.

The psychologist would see both parents and can diagnose things like personality disorder (in an alienator) or just generally report on the psychology and attitude of the alienating parent. They can also recommend what the court do about it - eg transfer of residency, re-unification therapy, no contact with the alienating parent for a period of time or supervised only.

A psychologist's report is about the highest level of evidence you can get for family court - more clout than Cafcass. Judges will see that and follow the recommendations.

For fuck's sake. You people think you are very clever. I am wasting my time here. I made clear what I am after, you DO NOT know my situation and I know what I want.

What exactly is it you want? You have one chance to explain, courteously, before you get banned.

Karen and Nick Woodall are experts (psychologists) - not sure if they're still doing consultations or not. You could try contacting them. But I think they will still want the agreement of both parents as Peanut mentioned. If they are doing consultations it will be expensive. If you don't have the agreement of both parents, then you need to go the court route or just follow the advice in that book I mentioned.

Also could you apologise to Peanut who has already linked information that would help, that you were asking about.

So what is your situation? Are you seeing the kids regularly or not at all? And are there any court orders in place?

Great … seeking help and this kind of attitude. Doesn’t bode well for proceedings and bet your ex will milk it. Brother it’s frustrating all this but keep a lid on your emotions man. It will backfire in the court room
