so my next hearing, I need the order written up by someone on my side, the ex's barrister tends to be, well.. biased.

A barrister is one option, but not sure I could find one in at short notice.

A solicitor can't speak in court unless an advocate - but can they be instructed to attend, so as to write up the order ?

The next hearing is supposed to be the final hearing, and I have a cunning plan for the CAO arrangements , which my ex is going to hate, but they work for me in our child, ;but I am aware that if the barrister from the other side writes up the CAO it will be written in such a way that my ex can use it to create obstacles, so I need it written up robustly.

Within your position statement and in front of the judge. Request that the wording of the order is agreed in court to avoid any disagreements and ambiguity.
