Can someone please clarify something for me if me and my ex have a child each from our relationship does maintenance need to be paid or would it be cancelled out because we each have one of our children we are supporting and neither child sees the other parent.

Hi,

The best thing to do is call CMS and discuss.

Why do your kids not see the other parent, or there sibling? Is there no solution to have some form of regular time as that might be a good thing? :)

From a child benefit perspective, you could both claim for one child.

From a CMS perspective, in theory, you could claim for the child that stays with you and your ex could claim for the child that stays with her. If you're both earning the same amount, technically nothing to pay (or pointless to pay the same amount to each other), however if your salaries/income is different there will be the difference to pay.
