What am I to expect from the first hearing I've been told I need to write what I'm asking for in relation to child arrangement order and why from my understanding will this just be sorting out all the legal stuff then I assume will be back in court again after baby's mother disagrees with what I'm asking for and comes back with her own arrangements what she would like?

To be honest I’m in the same boat - my first hearing is end of Jan. I’ve no idea what to expect. I do know, if at all possible, you and the ex can walk in with a draft order for child arrangements than the judge can rubber stamp it there n then! That’s it child arrangements sorted end of. Now chances are slim I appreciate with most ex partners. But worry suggesting as will save you both a fortune in fees…

Also, have you done mediation as that’s a requirement I believe

My ex will not agree to what I'm asking I can't and don't want to speak to my ex I have a non molestation order against her I have legal aid so court fees aren't an issue and I skipped mediation as I was victim of domestic abuse I wish I could do what your saying but that ain't gonna happen unfortunately not with my current situation regarding my sons mother

First hearing is FHDRA if you both agree to something it's possible you can get a concent order and it goes no further how ever if either of you don't agree or make allegations there a number of ways it can go in my case ex didn't agree to me having contact However the hearing went largely in my favour I felt so I've now got a progression order starting with indirect letter-based contact then supervised then unsupervised and a contested hearing in months time the order is frustrating but its better than a straight up no contact like ex wanted

I'm asking for my son to live with me and have supervised contact with mother he already resides with me as social say mum only allowed supervised contact at the moment

At what age do you find courts or CAFCASS people accept when a child says they want to live with a particular parent?

Ah ok, I'd be careful as solicitors charge a fortune to instruct a barrister sometimes, a lot of the advice on here is to use a direct access barrister.
