Finances as LiP

I did the first 2 hearings as LIP, the final hearing I used a Direct Barrister.

My only advice is if you're doing the entire journey as an LIP, make sure you've done your research and know your stuff. I didn't want to take the risk for the final hearing so spent £3,600 on a Barrister and safely saved myself a good £30k in doing so by getting a far better deal than expecting. My personal opinion is it was well worth the investment but for the first few hearings isn't not UNLESS you want to try and settle at one of them, therefore taking a barrister to attempt to negotiate and reach a settlement agreement was another option of mine but my ex was never going to settle for anything reasonable so didn't bother.

Statements are the most important documents, you need to ensure these are tip top! It's primarily what the judge will focus on.

What statements are needed?
Positioning statement.

It’s a summary/history of your entire case and accompanies your offer. It’s critical for the final hearing, if you get that far, I could see if I could dig mine out and just redact some info so you can see how it should be written if you continue as LIP
