Family court open to journalists

I agree that it could be a good thing however it really depends on whether the journalists have been following the entire case or if they have just rocked up as often there is so much to take in.

Yeah if it's a blue haired feminist they'll probably be biased.

I'm in two minds about it. The only reporters I've heard of who seem interested in reporting family court cases are people like Louise Tickle. Who although she doesn't have blue hair, definitely leans on the side of bias - if you remember that Channel 4 Dispatches documentary - it's mentioned on the home page. We wrote a letter complaining about the bias to them and to Ofcom.

Yeah it's not straight forward.
In an ideal world it would be a totally neutral set of journalists without any bias towards either men or women. But what are odds?
Guardian feminists or Daily Mail oafs?

It might be better if they focused on the court environment and how stressful it is, especially for LIPs. That way people who have never been can see how adversarial it can be.

One problem I think, is journalists reporting what they hear in court, without understand all the game playing going on. For example quite a few hearings for a Dad will involve solicitors and ex's raising allegations, Scott schedules etc. A journalist may not see that these are just strategies or false allegations and assume they are true. I don't suppose they will attend every hearing of every case and follow a case through.
