It's that time of year again and I've just read the Sins article of a F4J associate dressed as santa climbing the tree in trafalgar square to highlight the campaign to two tier starmer about putting the father back into xmas, what's surprised me,or maybe not, the article was more concerned about the the tree, it's significance, how high and delicate it is, then what the protest was about, if the media cant highlight this time of year situation then what hope is there in the courts, poor poor left sided reporting again

Just seen it - I just posted the article link as well :-) What surprised me was why he had a poster of Keir starmer when it was about not being able to see his daughter. He says he's going to stay there until Christmas Day and it looks like police haven't done anything yet.

When I was younger, I remember Batman and Spiderman up motorway gantries etc... I spoke with Matt O'Connor a few years ago, and he's less about direct action and more about awareness and support now; he is still as passionate as he ever was, but it takes a brave person to be up against the legal system for 20 years and that takes it toll. A quick browse of the website shows that it is no longer actively updated - a few posts about him in the past year (and one about Katie Price); the blog was last updated in 2017.

My gut feel is that this Santa had nothing to do with F4J, but both parties are happy to put its name to the stunt.

Reading the comments on the article (in the DT) though really disappointed me. The vitriol from both genders assuming that the dad is a bad dad and has got what he deserves - even though he has a court order to see his children. This just shows the lack of awareness from the public who have not had to face these issues. It is depressing that the press editors understand that reporting on the damage to the tree will sell more papers than reporting on the damage to families.

It's a good and timely thing to happen after the recent drama about the Family Justice Council report - reminding the public and the media that there are genuine Dads with court orders, who aren't getting to see their kids this Christmas. It's such a common time of year for breaches.

But yes I think he did it on his own.
