I've just been Informed my solicitor can't make my court hearing and will be sending a barrister as her replacement what's the difference between the two and will it effect the hearing in anyway?

Solicitors generally do all the admin and offer advice outside of court, barristers represent you in court and speak on your behalf.
I might be wrong in this but I think if someone is going to speak for you in court they need to be a barrister

Some solicitors are allowed to represent you in lower courts. With additional qualification they can appear for you in higher courts as Solicitor Advocates.

But, @Dad100789 is right. Representation in court is really the domain of barristers. If anything, switching to a barrister is probably an upgrade.

EDIT
Has the solicitor told you there will be additional cost due to instruction of a barrister?

If so, it might be worth comparing to a Direct Access Barrister.
