Just wondering how long it takes for ABH and allegations to go through cps as it’s been six months the without seeing my child and I just can’t understand why it’s taking so long and I can’t see my child in the mean time

My first post. Every case is different. Keep hanging in there, I know how difficult it is.

What are the circumstances? Injuries/Statement, simply fabricated story? Did you provide a statement?

FWIW I was arrested after I told my other half I was leaving her, she always said she'd finish me if I was done with her and she almost made good on that! Went for a walk and came back, police were there. I almost fainted when I heard the cock-and-bull story she had spun to the police, you name it and it was there. Given not so much as a hair on her head out of place, it never really stood up. Notwithstanding I had almost 16 hours in custody believing my world was ending, on a "he said she said". I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

In any event I was bailed and effectively evicted from my own home due to the bail conditions (we weren't married, my house in full and I pay all the bills). Since turned out my partner was advised to change the locks...of my own house! I couldn't believe it. Inside 24 hours whole life turned upside down with not a scrap of evidence as nothing happened. Until I read this forum and other online communities I had no idea this could happen, sadly not uncommon.

So I was effectively homeless for 3 months, sometimes staying in hotels, sometimes in my car. Never saw my family in this time, I kept away as was absolutely terrified of violating any condition that could be used against me. I was NFAed just before the 3 months was up in my case.

Assuming this is a spurious allegation too then just know you will get through this. Its the not knowing that kills you...I understand.

SillyBill's story is not uncommon and is very much like mine. My case was NFA'd after the police re-bailed me a couple of times. In the period between being arrested and NFA'd I never went back to the police station and had no further contact with the police.

Practically, the police officer carrying out the 'investigation' has a couple of hours max per day to do so, often whilst being a 'working' police officer. That's the police explanation of why it takes so long.

You say the CPS, but has it actually gone to the CPS? The CPS decision is ususlly very quick so the question is whether it has actually gone to them yet?

As asked above, more details would be helpful.

This might shock some - it did me - but sometimes the police NFA you and don't tell you. I had to do a Subject Access Request to find out I'd been NFAd two days after interview, and it took me about four months to find out. Not saying you've been NFAd, just that you shouldn't necessarily rely on the police to tell you if it's already dragged on this long.
