Confused on Child as my son has a job?

Hello,
My first time on the forum.
Am in the process of changing jobs and my salary will go down as a result. Have explained this to my ex and she understands this.
My son is 18, goes to college weds to fri full time studying for a motor engineering diploma (I believe equivalent to A level). However he also works at a local pub on his daya off and the weekend and is getting up to £500 a month and has only just started paying for housekeeping.
Does the fact that he earns money affect my maintenance payments at all?
Thanks for your help and any advice
Bill

CM lasts all the while they are in full time education, even if they are over 18 (I think it's up to age 21). Wednesday to Friday doesn't sound full time but maybe it's classed as a full time course. It's something to try and sort out with your ex really on an informal basis. Maybe suggest you gradually reduce it a bit at a time over a longish period. If she decided to be difficult she could just tell CMS he's studying full time and they would assess you accordingly indefinitely. We've had Dads in a position where they had to prove to CMS that the child wasn't in full time education and it's difficult to prove because a college won't give an 18 year old's personal details out - because they're 18. So CMS then just go by what the ex tells them!

I think, if she's understanding that you'll be earning less, you could suggest a family based arrangement to her of a reducing amount.

How are you paying at the moment? Is it an agreed amount or is it CMS assessed?

Happy Easter stwr and thanks for the reply.
My maintenance cost is worked out on Govt. Calculator and then I send the ex a copy of this and my P60.
Have been unemployed for three months and perhaps wrongly assumed because I had redundancy pay that I still needed to pay full maintenance. Have apoken to her today and have said that maintenance is likely to go down and she seems fairly aimiable on that.
