CMS Calculation From Which Dates (Financial Year or Last 12 Months)

Last week I received my annual CMS calculation and it is a little confusing . If I base the calculation on the previous 12 months (October 2023 to October 2024) the figures do not make sense as I will be paying approx. £30 more per month than calculated by me. However if I base the figures on the previous financial year (April 2023 to April 2024) the calculations are fairly close and I more or less agree with the findings.
Does anyone know when the calculation dates are taken from, and if it is from the previous 12 months as opposed to the previous financial year is it worth questioning the CSM about this?

It will be the prior tax year so probably why it ties well to 23/24

Thank you Roblox. Yes I am an employee.
The calculation is based on my Taxable gross. Am I correct in thinking the payable CMS sum should be worked out based on taxable gross less any pension contribution made into my employers company pension?

Yes that sounds right.

Do you have much in personal income or benefits in kind and do you file self assessment returns

Hi Roblox, After looking deeper into this as expected the payment calculation is correct. Where the calculation is based on the previous year I had worked a lot of hours and as a percentage of my income it is now higher than 12% of current earnings but not a third different so I will have to suck it up for the next 12 months. That said next year the payments will be less so it will resolve itself in the long run.
I am happy to pay for my daughter and always will be. The thing that makes me sad is I am paying for my daughter who I have only seen 4 times in the last 15 months. Like many on here the ex is happy to take our money but deny us access to our children, forcing us to go the way of court proceedings.
