Child with additional needs

Hi, so my daughter turns 18 soon and has additional needs
She will then transition to adult support.
So had any one gone through this process with regards to CSA as her further education/college will stop as she moves on - assuming that payments stop at this point direct to her mother ( with whom refuses to speak to me or keep me in the picture) and of course I intend on supporting her financially and emotionally as we have a super close relationship.
Wondering who else has gone through this.
Court order will cease at this point also, which will be another hurdle to tackle but are there any considerations for a dad with an additional needs child/adult
(Case worker and adult transition team so far have been zero help)
Thanks

I would tread carefully as if Child Maintenance payments just stop, your ex may just stop you seeing your daughter. Maybe this also needs a transition.

I was going to say keep dealing with the Case Worker and adult transition team but you say they have been no help. Are these additional needs physical disability or learning difficulties or mental health issues?

Learning difficulties so it’s all about support for life skills and general safety - chromosome deletion so mental age not as should be - but she is fab and healthy just support for everyday living and will continue to live with mother.
So for me it was about how Cms legality may differ in these cases and if anyone had experience on when court orders stop at 18 and if there are then an adult version of this - as I do believe mother will start to become difficult ….again!

Technically CMS can last until a child finishes full time education. Eg if they go to university until age 21. It may be that your child’s needs class her as being in education. However there is a maximum age beyond which you fint pay. I think it used to be 23 but can’t be sure and it may have changed.

I would see how things go after this transition and see if you’re still getting regular time. And maybe look at the situation in 6 months time.
