Child maintenance

No help required just an observation if nobody has also noticed a massive flaw.

How can they call it child maintenance at 18yr old?
They can go out drinking, vote and are legally classed as an adult, it's totally backwards this country, it's baffling to think an 18yr old is still eligible for cm. A child they certainly are not.

I'm sure many dad's have realised this and I know this further education is sometimes necessary but they have weekend jobs or earn money through the week to go out on the lash on Saturday night.

Not been a killjoy but if they can afford to get pissed on a weekend they can afford to pay their way in life.

There's a few issues. One being that the cms will assume the non resident parent has the kids one night a week in lieu of a formal arrangement or court order. Which underpins some of the bias in terms of child access. Child maintenance hence being a stick to fight over and to actively demotivate many mothers from letting the father have the kids more.

Also this idea of child maintenance as a 'minimum' or 'bare minimum ' trotted out by solicitors and femal led parenting boards.

Agreed. Another fine example of greed, solicitors, no wonder they drive around in flash cars, the gravy train in full swing.

"You had the child/children" I hear the government say, if we didn't have kids the country would fall apart, how about they incentevise having kids instead of alienating parents. Sorry, a bit too political but needs to be mentioned.
