Hi all, my son left school last September tried to join the RAF but failed. I paid 6 mths extended child maintenance thru CMS - that ended in February. He is thinking of attending Technical College he will be 18 by then - I have been told by CMS I "may have to pay Child Maintenance". I rang them to ask if the 6 months I paid extra would be taken into consideration - they said no?? They said that case had been closed and a new one would have to be opened.
As he is not a child can I make an arrangement with him or will my ex make a claim, so that the money goes to her and not him. Or is it he who has to instigate the claim? The original Child Maintenance was made by Court Order - she subsequently took it to CMS..
Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
