Article attached by the British Medical Journal, with extensive research into child outcomes when Fathers are involved in childrens early lives. The conclusion says

"The findings of this research study suggest that it is psychological and emotional aspects of paternal involvement in a child's infancy that are most powerful in influencing later child behaviour and not the amount of time that fathers are engaged in childcare or domestic tasks in the household."

In other words it is a Father's presence, bond and love in early years that positively influences child outcomes later in life.

Could be a useful resource for someone in a court situation at some point.
